Northouse (2019) clarifies team leadership as the functional basis of the leader’s job to monitor the team, assess the team’s performance, situations, and experiences, and take whatever action is necessary to ensure team effectiveness (pgs. 373-374). Koeslag-Kreunen et al. (2018) founded team learning behavior is one of the most effective team processes at the team level in sharing, discussing, and reflecting on knowledge and actions, enabling teams to adapt existing or develop new understanding. Team leadership behavior is considered a critical accelerant for creating conditions essential to engage in team learning behavior, such as a safe environment._x000D_

Burke et al. (2018) concluded that team leadership functions such as team problem solving, supporting social climate, structure, planning, and sensemaking are among the most prevalent. Results also indicated that the degree to which leadership is distributed throughout the team and the formality of team leadership vary across action and transition phases of the team’s task cycle._x000D_

Team effectiveness is the desired outcome of team leadership with the development and cohesiveness of team maintenance and team accomplishment (Northouse, 2019, p. 375). Northouse (2019) ultimately concludes there are no straightforward methods or guidelines for team leadership, therefore leaders must be receptive and purposeful to learning, understanding, and diagnosing team’s problems and skillfully appropriating actions to help the team achieve its desired goals.
