Humanistic psychology is an essential element in the discipline of psychology since it recognizes the importance of understanding and treating a human being as unique. The humanistic psychology movement also brings life-essential elements in psychology that psychiatrists and psychologists can apply. The movement is credible in the psychology discipline based on its benefits and impacts in the field. Through the humanistic psychology movement, a hierarchy of needs was developed, which enhanced people’s knowledge of human needs’ priority and potency (Wong, 2017). Humanistic psychology also provides a new and holistic dimension that can be used to describe an individual. The movement’s inclusion of behaviorism and psychoanalysis in the psychology discipline offers more credibility. Psychoanalysis allows psychologists to understand the unconscious motivations that influence behavior in an individual. Behaviorisms enable one to study the conditioning process that leads to the production of behavior. The application of the movement has significantly influenced how it is perceived within the discipline (McDonald & Wearing, 2013). The movement has been applied for personal development, enhancing self-actualization and self-discovery among individuals. The concept has also been used for social changes to make societies and communities a better place._x000D_

Do you think that is possible given the breadth of the overall Humanistic theory, that it will be able to present a unified front? Consider who and what all that encompasses. To play devil’s advocate – behaviorism had a variety of beliefs but they were able to pull together for the most part. Or, to get a bit more wild, psychoanalytic theory has so many variations it is a shock sometimes to assume they all even have something in common. Do you think Humanism can boil what they do / think / believe down to a few basic tenets and get everyone on board to stand behind them?_x000D_
